Anaesthesia in a 7-year-old girl with incomplete dissection of the trachea due to stabbing is reported. After nasotracheal intubation the lesion was isolated. Then transtracheal jet ventilation through the defect was performed. Thus sufficient ventilation as well as a clear surgical field for the intratracheal suture even of the pars membranacea was garanteed. The advantages of this procedure compared with the traditional intubation are discussed.
