Preparticipation sports evaluation: an overview.

Nurse practitioners are being increasingly called upon to perform or be a part of the process that provides preparticipation physical examinations (PPE). The PPE goals are to enhance and maintain the health and safety of students participating in high-risk activities (organized athletics). This article will provide an overview of the evaluation process and look at key disqualifying criteria for the student-athlete.
