Central venous pressure (CVP) is the pressure within a central vein that represents the pressure created by the venous return in the right atrium, otherwise known as the right atrial end diastolic pressure. It is expressed as a numerical value in either millimetres of mercury (mmHg) or centimetres of water (cmH2O).
