Since 1971 the University Eye Clinic Graz has used the cryocoagulation of the ciliary body as a method of therapy in cases of malignant glaucoma. In all 7 eyes treated once by coagulation the malignant course was interrupted and the tension permanently regulated. It is believed that the cyclotherapy directly interferes with the pathomechanism of the malignant glaucoma.
自1971年以来，格拉茨大学眼科诊所一直将睫状体冷冻凝固术作为恶性青光眼的一种治疗方法。在所有7只接受过一次凝固治疗的眼睛中，恶性病程均被阻断，眼压得到永久性控制。据信，睫状体冷冻疗法直接干预了恶性青光眼的发病机制。
