Author investigated by ultrasonography 300 pregnant women in the last trimester. From these 13 (4.33%) of singular fetuses have straight cord, without umbilical vascular coiling. The control group had 287 subjects. The incidence of nuchal cord in the noncoiled group (3/4) was greater than that of the control group (1/4). The noncoiled umbilical cord appears to be a potentially risk factor for the fetus.
