Australia is a country with a large outback area where more than one-third of its residents live in areas outside metropolitan regions. It is a significant challenge to deliver adequate and effective specialist referral services to people in these rural and remote communities. In the tradition of the world-renowned Royal Flying Doctor Service, specialist outreach clinics were initiated in an attempt to improve access to health services.
