Total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) has recently obtained a wide diffusion in paediatrics, thanks to the pharmacological properties of propofol. The authors make a review on sedation, combined anaesthesia and Tiva in paediatric anesthesia, particularly on propofol and its characteristics.
