This retrospective study, including all postnatal died newborns from 1992 to 1994 in our hospital, shows, that the mortality rate among the breech presentations is several times higher then this among the cephalic presentations. Inborn malformations, specially those of CNS, and birth trauma are with significant higher frequency causes of death in the first group. Intrapartal asphyxia, intraventricular haemorrhages and respiratory distress syndrome are equally presented in the neonatal mortality structure of the newborns in breech and cephalic presentation.
