Currently epidemiology is facing some serious challenges of its basic assumptions and values. It is accused of exaggerating minimal health risks of everyday life. In addition there is an ongoing argument between the numerical approach of health problems and the causal deterministic approach, between evidence-based medicine and mechanism-based medicine.
目前，流行病学正面临着一些关于其基本假设和价值观的严峻挑战。它被指责夸大了日常生活中微不足道的健康风险。此外，在健康问题的数值方法与因果决定论方法之间，以及循证医学与基于机制的医学之间，争论仍在继续。
