[A review of phonosurgery of voice and speech disorders. I. Surgery of the vocal cords].

Phonosurgery is a surgical discipline, which is aimed to improve the condition of voice and speech. It is practised by various specialists, namely, phoniatricians, laryngologists, plastic surgeons etc. Phonosurgery is in a rapid development, as a special scientific and clinical discipline, particularly after foundation of the IAP-International Association of Phonosurgeons (Belgrade 1990). In the first part of this review classification of phonosurgery is presented, as well as a review of the most significant types of surgery, which affect the vocal fold.
