In the undergraduate medical education of neurology, the lack of training for the application of acquired knowledge and the smaller chances for the practice of skills and the attitudinal education might lead medical students to be unconcerned about neurology. The measures for these problems introduced in Saitama Medical School were reviewed, which include the practical training for local diagnosis, the introduction to clinical medicine and the problem based learning in a manner of small group learning, respectively. Active, self-directed learning in small groups would help to improve the difficulties in current undergraduate medical education.
