[Functional topography of the on and off channels of retinal cone system in diagnosis of initial glaucoma].

A new method-achromatic static campymetry-was used for the early diagnosis of visual function disorders in glaucoma. It was realized through IBM personal computer in the DOS system with SVGA monitor. The method permits examination of the functional topography of the on and off channels of the retinal cone system, in other words, it detects the early disorders of contrast sensitivity in each site of the visual field. Achromatic static campymetry revealed changes in 100% of patients with the initial primary open-angle glaucoma in whom the traditional static perimetry using Perimat 206 showed no disorders of the central and paracentral visual field in the presence of normal ophthalmic tone.
