A technique for recording the electroretinogram and visual evoked response from very young or mentally retarded children without general anesthesia is presented. Illustrative results from both normal and abnormal subjects are shown. The advantages to the patient of avoiding general anesthesia in reduced risk, time, and especially expense are discussed.
