This paper describes the process of utilizing group interview techniques combined with elements of qualitative methodology to facilitate the selection of newly registered nurses for acceptance into a graduate nurse programme. The paper demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability of group interviewing large numbers of candidates for a limited number of positions. It explores the process from a humanistic perspective and identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the instrument, which will enable further refinement and applicability.
