Experience with two cases of transabdominal gunshot wounds of the hip in nonmilitary circumstances indicated delayed recognition of the hip involvement. This delay resulted in compromised end results in both cases. The wartime principles of early recognition and prompt surgical management are recommended for civilian settings.
