The course of duodenal ulcer in metallurgists is characterized by some peculiar features, such as local antral gastritis with the gastric mucosa atrophy, signs of severe dysplasia, duodenogastric reflux in a major proportion of the patient population. The above patients are to be medically supervised by regular contact surveys, with the preventive procedures being inaugurated on an as-needed basis to keep the patient recurrence-free.
