59 children without symptoms of sinusitis or URI, aged 6 to 8 years had positive radiologica findings of sinus pathology in 32%. Correspond ultrasonographic findings were positive in 22%. A correlation was detected in 67,8%. In non correlating cases, x-ray had a tendency to more pathological findings in 63%. When correlating x-ray and ultrasound in a diagram of 118 maxillary sinuses only 6% had changes worth treatable. The classical radiological signs os sinusitis in children are therefore questionable.
59名6至8岁无鼻窦炎或上呼吸道感染症状的儿童中，32%的儿童鼻窦病理放射学检查结果呈阳性。相应的超声检查结果阳性率为22%。两者的相关性检测率为67.8%。在不相关的病例中，63%的X线检查显示有更多的病理结果倾向。在118个上颌窦的图表中，将X线和超声结果进行对比时，只有6%的结果有值得治疗的改变。因此，儿童鼻窦炎的经典放射学征象值得怀疑。
