It was demonstrated in experiments on rats that induction of "stress" and "steroid" ulcers of the stomach was accompanied by reduction in adrenaline and noradrenaline content in the wall of the stomach. Induction of such ulcers in the animals with experimental disturbances of the thyroid gland function was also accompanied by a reduction in catecholamine content in the wall of the stomach; this phenomenon was much more pronounced in hyperthyroidism than in hypothyroidism, however.
