A technique of neuroleptanalgesia is described for effective and reliable sedation during intra-ocular surgery under local analgesia. The absence of side effects using modified neuroleptanalgesia was of particular value in a situation in a developing country in which large numbers of patients had to be handled in a comparatively short period of time.
