The finding of a single umbilical artery 10 cm above the placenta is no prove of its singularity in all the course. This observation indicates that a solitary umbilical artery is neither a main pathogenetic fact nor an evident morphologic pattern concerning fundamental disorders in placentation and fetal development.

在胎盘上方10厘米处发现单条脐动脉并不能证明其在整个过程中都是单一的。这一观察结果表明，单条脐动脉既不是胎盘形成和胎儿发育基本紊乱的主要致病因素，也不是明显的形态学模式。
