Laser scalpel, designed on the base of Neodymium YAG Laser, is proposed for contact tissue dissection during the surgical procedure. The application of the sapphire monocrystal tips as a contact laser scalpel, has provided the opportunity for obtaining satisfactory hemostatic and dissecting effects with minimum energetic losses. Proposed by the authors, contact laser scalpel is light enough, rather handy in surgical procedures even in the regions difficult to access in thoracic and abdominal cavities and allows to perform precisional dissections of the tissues.
