Multiple colorectal carcinoma and barium enema perforation.

A patient with simultaneous metachronous carcinoma and polyps of the large bowel is presented. The importance of carcinoma as a predisposing cause to perforation during barium enema is stressed. In view of the considerable incidence of recurrent large bowel tumors, careful routine follow-up studies should be undertaken and extreme caution exercised during the barium enema.
