A six year old girl with a six day history of varicella presented with a fixed dilated pupil, paralysis of accomodation and an anterior uveitis in the left eye. The anterior uveitis rapidly resolved but the internal ophthalmoplegia has persisted for fifteen months. Four similar cases are reviewed.
