We report lysinuric protein intolerance (LPI) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in a 14-year-old girl. The co-existence of LPI and SLE in the same patient has been reported before and suggests that SLE is directly connected with LPI.
CONCLUSION
Possibly in LPI the metabolic derangement can cause immunological abnormalities. Therefore, when multisystem involvement is observed in LPI patients, SLE should be considered as a rare complication.
