[The diagnostic and therapeutic process in patients with a first episode of psychotic disorder at the inpatients department].

The paper presents the tradition of work on our inpatient ward, the specific character of diagnosis and treatment and their goals in relation to the first psychotic episode. Finally, some controversial issues concerning this subject are discussed.
