The effect of rigid contact lenses on the course of keratocone during different stages is studied. A total of 121 patients (234 eyes) aged 11 to 49 years were examined. Early onset of keratocone is associated with its more rapid progress; the evolution of the disease from the initial to terminal stage takes 7 years with lenses and 4 without them; the progress of keratocone from one stage to another with contact correction takes more than 2 years versus less than 1.5 years without correction. Rigid contact lenses inhibit the progress of keratocone only at the initial stage of the disease.
研究了硬性接触镜在不同阶段对圆锥角膜病程的影响。共检查了121例年龄在11至49岁之间的患者（234只眼）。圆锥角膜的早期发病与其进展较快有关；佩戴镜片时疾病从初始阶段发展到终末期需要7年，不佩戴则需要4年；通过接触镜矫正，圆锥角膜从一个阶段发展到另一个阶段需要超过2年，而不矫正则不到1.5年。硬性接触镜仅在疾病的初始阶段抑制圆锥角膜的进展。
