A cDNA encoding a homolog of human translationally controlled tumor protein (TCTP) was isolated from cotyledons of the short-day plant Pharbitis mil cv. Violet. The level of the corresponding mRNA increased gradually during darkness. This increase was inhibited by end-of-day exposure to far-red light.
