Treatment of guinea pig flanks with very soft X-rays (borderline rays) may stop the uptake of 3H-Tdr during the DNA synthesis phase of epidermal germinative cells. Evidence of increased proliferative activity at any time after the irradiation can only be seen as a symptom of secondary reactive repair processes.
