An unusual postoperative complication of ulceration and hemorrhage during the postoperative period of a Nissen fundoplication in a patient with severe chronic periesophagitis is presented. In a review of the literature we could not find a similar report. The possible etiopathogenic mechanisms are discussed, and preventive measures are suggested.
