Fetal biparietal diameter and birth weight. An interpopulation comparison.

Data on the biparietal diameter (BPD), determined ultrasonically, of the full-term South African Negroid fetus are presented. Population differences in the absolute value of the BPD and the linear regression of birth weight on the biparietal dimension are emphasised. The possible biological explanations for these differences are discussed.
