Retinal astrocytoma associated with hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium: clinical report and follow-up.

Retinal astrocytoma is a rare and benign tumor of the retina most frequently seen in patients with tuberous sclerosis. We describe the case of a 12-year-old boy with solitary retinal astrocytoma in the right eye associated with hypertrophy of the retinal pigment epithelium in the left eye. In this work the instrumental examinations, the differential diagnosis and the follow-up of 7 years are described.
