Abstract

OBJECTIVE

To determine the number of strains of classic enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) that have the eae gene, that is considered a pathogenicity factor.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The presence of the eae gene has been evaluated on 62 EPEC strains of ten different serogroups, isolated from children with gastroenteritis.

RESULTS

Amplification of the eae gene was positive in 10 out of 62 EPEC strains analyzed (16%) corresponding to seven different serogroups.

DISCUSSION

The low frequency of the detection of the eae gene on EPEC strains shows the limited correlation between the pathogenicity and the serogroup of the strains and would corroborate the need to reexamine this subject prospectively in our country.

目的

确定具有eae基因(一种致病因子)的经典肠致病性大肠杆菌(EPEC)菌株数量。

材料与方法

对从患肠胃炎儿童中分离出的10个不同血清群的62株EPEC菌株评估eae基因的存在情况。

结果

在所分析的62株EPEC菌株中,有10株(16%)eae基因扩增呈阳性,对应7个不同血清群。

讨论

EPEC菌株中eae基因的低检测频率表明菌株的致病性与血清群之间的相关性有限,这将证实有必要在我国对该课题进行前瞻性重新研究。
