Impact of anemia and fatigue on quality of life in cancer patients: a brief review.

Anemia is a frequent complication of cancer and its treatment. Cancer-related anemia is a phenomenon whose physiologic mechanisms are well documented. Yet the impact of that anemia on the individual with cancer is not well understood. This paper describes the impact of anemia, and its distressing manifestations, particularly fatigue, on an individual's quality of life.
