This presentation summarizes the debate on the suggested progressive impairment of semen quality (the "sperm fall") in the last forty years in the developed countries. The various available data strongly suggesting an environmental toxic origin for the "sperm fall" will be presented as well as the most frequently suspected class of substances, the xenoestrogens.
