Acid hydrolysis of kanamycin A gives 5-aminomethylfurfural which can be determined quantitatively colorimetricaly by the colour complex with orcinol and FeCl3. This method gives results which correlate with the results of microbiological assay. Kanamycin B, tobramycin kasugamycin did not produce this colour reaction.

卡那霉素A经酸水解后产生5-氨甲基糠醛，它可通过与苔黑酚和三氯化铁形成的有色络合物进行比色定量测定。该方法所得结果与微生物测定结果相关。卡那霉素B、妥布霉素、春日霉素未产生这种颜色反应。
