In anesthetised cats, i.v. administration of epinephrine (EP) in combination with acetylcholine (ACH) caused a decline of arterial pressure (AP), cardiac output (CO) and heart rate (HR) whereas stroke volume (SV) and total peripheral resistance (TPR) were increased. Combined administration of the HIS (histamine) and EP caused a decrease in only the AP and TPR, whereas CO, HR and SV were increased. The findings suggest that changes of systemic haemodynamics following combined i.v. administration of humoral stimuli depend on the mechanism of their action on the heart and vessels.
