Comorbidity of depression complicates diagnosis and makes treatment more difficult. The broad efficacy of selective-seratonin reuptake inhibitors makes these compounds of particular benefit as monotherapy for depression comorbid with anxiety disorders, especially panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
