[The present state of cholelithiasis research in Japan (author's transl)].

Research on cholelithiasis in Japan deals with such different aspects as development and composition of gallstones, geographical distribution of the disease, intrahepatic formation of gallstones, diagnostic and surgical procedures. This paper presents results on these current research topics.
