The boards of directors of St. Bernardine Medical Center, San Bernardino, CA, and St. Mary Desert Valley Hospital, Apple Valley, CA, established a series of guidelines to help hospital personnel treat victims of rape. Guidelines include consideration for the total well-being of the woman, morally acceptable medical treatment, requirements for the use of antiovulant drugs, and legal and confidentiality procedures.
