Programs in cytopathology: how do you evaluate performance and how can you improve?

The need to cut costs complicates the challenge of providing quality assurance. QA in cytopathology presents still another dilemma: deciding which QA mechanism to use. Here, in an article adapted from his presentation before the New York State Society of Pathologists (Orlando, Fla., 1983), the author discusses various QA mechanisms and a program designed to improve diagnostic performance.
