Using a new method for tetanizing frog ventricle muscle, the tension-length, force-load-velocity, and load-extension relations were determined under the steady active state. On the basis of these experiments a mechanochemical model was developed. Time courses of internal calcium concentrations, the rates of release, and uptake of calcium during isometric twitches were calculated by the model.
