Disorganized meridional rows in the lens epithelium of hypophysectomized frogs (Rana pipiens).

Hypophysectomy of the frog Rana pipiens causes the disappearance of mitosis in the lens epithelium. The lens epithelium from animals hypophysectomized for ten months has been found to display a disorganization of the meridional rows. Experiments with mechanical and chemical injuries suggest that cell density may be involved in column disorganization.
