Abstract

Hypophysectomy of the frog Rana pipiens causes the disappearance of mitosis in the lens epithelium. The lens epithelium from animals hypophysectomized for ten months has been found to display a disorganization of the meridional rows. Experiments with mechanical and chemical injuries suggest that cell density may be involved in column disorganization.
