Abstract

The retropharyngeal space extends from the skull base to the T4 vertebral level and contains the retropharyngeal nodes superiorly and fatty tissue elsewhere. This space is important as it is a potential route for the spread of infection and malignancy. This pictorial essay outlines the anatomy of the retropharyngeal space and illustrates the various disease processes that may be seen in region.Chong, V. F. H., Fan, Y. F. (2000).
