[Teaching the history of medicine in Switzerland, past and present].

This article covers the teaching of the history of medicine at the Swiss universities of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich and from its initially modest proportions until it reached the standard it achieved in the Twentieth Century. Brief biographies are provided of the principal protagonists from earliest times to the current holders of the chairs of the history of medicine. It concludes with a brief account of the current structure and organization of the various institutes, together with their fields of research and education.
