Tingry spent his entire professional and scientific career in Geneva, after completing his pharmacy studies in Paris. An important part of his writings, unpublished and conserved in Geneva, concerns plant chemistry. His work was principally devoted to the composition and varied parts of the flower Lilium album. Although he is classified as a minerologist and inorganic chemist, it is fitting to think of him also as a botanist and innovative talent in pharmacognosis.
廷格里在巴黎完成药学学业后，其整个专业和科研生涯都是在日内瓦度过的。他未发表且保存在日内瓦的著作中有很大一部分涉及植物化学。他的工作主要致力于白花百合的成分及各个不同部分。尽管他被归类为矿物学家和无机化学家，但把他也视为植物学家和生药学方面的创新人才是恰当的。
