After his discharge in 1940, René Allendy chose to settle in Montpellier where he lived out his last years. His passionate interest in the city's Vitalist School had influenced this choice. This article reconstitutes the milieu and the conditions under which he delivered, at the School of Medicine in 1941, three lectures which constitute the first public introduction of psychoanalytical ideas in Montpellier.
