Following the trail of Allendy's last months in Montpellier and based on his last book, Diary of an ill doctor, this article evokes the figure of one of the first French speaking psychoanalysts who, observing the evolution of his own illness, attempted to establish a relationship between the Freudian unconscious and its influence over so-called organic illness. The question of the transmission of psychoanalysis in connection to the relationship of analysts to their institutions is also touched upon.
