Abstract

OBJECTIVE

To present the sonographic appearance of hepatocellular carcinoma imaged with the intravenous contrast agent Levovist.

METHODS

We reviewed our experience using Levovist (Schering AG, Berlin, Germany) for the sonographic diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

RESULTS

Contrast-enhanced sonography with Levovist facilitated detailed evaluation of tumor vascularity in hepatocellular carcinoma.

CONCLUSIONS

Contrast-enhanced sonography with Levovist enhances the role of sonography in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma. It provides detailed information about tumor vascularity and the contrast enhancement pattern.
