Abstract

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by a progressive impairment of memory and intellectual functioning. The disease is a complex multi-factorial disease with the involvement of several possible genes. To study AD, a high-density cDNA array was developed to characterize the mRNA expression profile of 14160 genes. The preliminary results support the amyloid cascade hypothesis as the mechanism of the disease.

阿尔茨海默病(AD)的特征是记忆力和智力功能进行性受损。该疾病是一种复杂的多因素疾病,涉及多个可能的基因。为了研究AD,开发了一种高密度cDNA阵列来表征14160个基因的mRNA表达谱。初步结果支持淀粉样蛋白级联假说作为该疾病的发病机制。
