Experiments were conducted on unanesthetized dogs; the influence of portocaval transposition on the systemic hemodynamics of the intact dogs and dogs with experimental vasorenal hypertension was studied. Arterial pressure was decreased in dogs with vasorenal hypertension after portocaval transposition mainly by means of reduction of the total peripheral resistance. There was no considerable change of hemodynamics in the intact dogs after the portocaval transposition.
